Start with the card you are reviewing
Use the fee that will apply at the next renewal, including any paid authorized users.
Valuation rule: Count a credit at full value only when it replaces spending you would have made anyway. A $200 credit that causes a new $230 purchase is not automatically worth $200.
Value each credit and benefit honestly
Enter what you used or what the perk was personally worth—not its theoretical maximum.
Hard value replaces real spending, such as a travel credit or checked-bag fee. Soft value improves the experience, such as lounge access or status. Keeping them separate prevents soft perks from hiding a weak cash-value result.
Compare the card with your realistic alternative
A premium card should be compared with the card you would actually use instead—not with having no card at all.
Estimated annual value of points or cash back earned from spending.
Subtract any spending opportunity cost before entering the value.
Use for a legitimate benefit not included in the rows above.
Include overspending, delivery fees, unused balances or other friction.
Protection benefits: Do not assume credit-card insurance will cover every loss. Coverage terms, limits, exclusions, payment requirements and claim handling vary. Assign only a conservative personal value.

This calculator provides an educational estimate based entirely on the values and assumptions entered. It is not financial, legal, tax, insurance or credit advice. Before cancelling or downgrading a card, consider account age, utilization, issuer rules, points preservation, pending credits, certificate timing and the complete cardmember agreement.
