Bilt Mortgage Offer: 50,000 Points, but Check Which Version You Have

Quick Take: Earlier descriptions of Bilt’s mortgage promotion offered 25,000 Bilt Points after receiving a pre-approval letter and another 25,000 after the mortgage closed. That first award reportedly did not require a completed home purchase or even a property tour. Bilt’s current public Broker Closing Offer is different: it awards all 50,000 points only after an eligible loan closes with the mortgage expert matched through Bilt. Check the exact offer in your account, then compare the loan’s rate and fees before letting the points influence a mortgage decision.

Getting 25,000 Bilt Points for a mortgage pre-approval letter sounds almost too easy.

Under the earlier version of Bilt’s promotion, it really was the easy half of the offer. A member could reportedly earn 25,000 points after completing the pre-approval process, then earn another 25,000 points if the mortgage itself eventually closed.

The first milestone mattered because it came before the home purchase. You did not need to close on a property, and the pre-approval could be completed before you had even viewed a home listed for sale.

But there is now a major reason to slow down before applying: Bilt’s public offer page changed. As of August 19, 2026, the public Broker Closing Offer says no points are awarded at pre-approval. All 50,000 points require a completed, verified loan closing.

That doesn't necessarily mean every targeted offer disappeared. Bilt’s general terms allow the company to send different promotions to individual members. It does mean you shouldn't rely on an older screenshot, article or social post to determine what your account will earn.

What the Earlier Bilt Mortgage Offer Promised

Earlier descriptions of the Bilt mortgage offer divided the 50,000-point opportunity into two equal pieces:

Earlier 25,000 + 25,000 Structure:

  • Receive a mortgage pre-approval letter: earn 25,000 Bilt Points.
  • Close the mortgage loan: earn another 25,000 Bilt Points.
  • Maximum bonus: 50,000 Bilt Points.

The first 25,000 points were the attention-grabber. A mortgage pre-approval is an early financing step, not a home purchase. A borrower can get pre-approved before selecting a property, touring homes or submitting an offer.

That made the first half of the promotion potentially useful even for someone who was beginning to explore homeownership but had not committed to purchasing a specific home.

A pre-approval still is not completely frictionless. The mortgage professional may request income, asset, employment and debt information, and the process may involve a credit inquiry. The borrower should confirm whether the lender plans to perform a hard pull before authorizing it.

Do not assume the 25,000-point pre-approval award is currently available: Bilt’s public help page was updated on August 17, 2026 and now expressly says members do not earn points at pre-approval. If your Bilt app or a targeted email still promises 25,000 points for that milestone, save the complete offer and follow its specific dates and conditions.

How the Current Public Offer Works

Bilt now calls the public promotion its Broker Closing Offer. The current process requires the member to:

  1. Have a Bilt account in good standing.
  2. Open the Buy a Home section in the Bilt app or on desktop.
  3. Complete the questions and get matched with a mortgage expert through Bilt.
  4. Receive a confirmation email that starts the offer period.
  5. Work with that same mortgage expert and close an eligible mortgage loan during the offer period.

After the loan closes and Bilt verifies the transaction, the 50,000 points should post within 30 days.

The public terms also say the loan must close within 90 days of the member’s initial conversation with the mortgage expert. The current offer period ends November 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.

Current Public Broker Closing Offer:

  • At pre-approval: 0 Bilt Points.
  • After an eligible verified closing: 50,000 Bilt Points.
  • Posting time: within 30 days after verification.
  • Closing deadline: within 90 days of the initial conversation and during the stated offer period.
  • Participation: one closing award per eligible member, subject to limited availability.
  • Elite status: the promotional points do not count toward Bilt status.

Bilt says the offer is available on a first-come, first-served basis to a limited number of participants. It also reserves the right to modify or revoke the promotion.

Bilt Matches Buyers With Mortgage and Real Estate Professionals

Bilt’s homeownership platform can connect a member with both a mortgage professional and a real estate agent. Those are related referrals, but they are not the same offer.

The Mortgage Expert

For the 50,000-point Broker Closing Offer, Bilt matches the member with a mortgage expert. The borrower must use that same expert for the loan that closes.

Bilt’s public page describes this person as an expert matched through Bilt. It does not say that every mortgage professional is a direct Bilt employee, so treat the match as a referral relationship unless your documents say otherwise.

The eXp Real Estate Agent

Bilt’s separate Buy a Home program is powered by Bilt Homes LLC, a licensed real estate brokerage that works with eXp Realty. Bilt says it matches members with licensed eXp agents based on the buyer’s desired geography.

If the home purchase is facilitated by the eXp agent connected through Bilt, the buyer can earn 1 Bilt Point for every $2 of the home’s total closing price. A $500,000 purchase would therefore earn 250,000 points under that separate program.

Bilt’s homebuying FAQ says the buyer’s mortgage lender does not matter for those purchase-price points. In other words, the mortgage-professional bonus and the real estate agent rewards are separate decisions.

That distinction creates several possible paths:

  • Use the Bilt-matched mortgage expert for the 50,000-point closing bonus.
  • Use the Bilt-connected eXp agent for 1 point per $2 of the home’s closing price.
  • Use both professionals and ask Bilt whether both rewards will stack.
  • Use only one referral when the other professional is not competitive.

Do not assume the programs automatically stack in every account. Ask Bilt to confirm the combination in writing before choosing professionals based on the total points.

The Biggest Risk Is Paying More for the Points

Mortgage and real estate referrals are valuable leads for the companies involved. That does not make the professionals bad choices, but it does mean the points should not end your comparison.

The real question is whether the referred mortgage or agent relationship costs more than an alternative.

A 50,000-point bonus might reasonably be worth several hundred dollars or more, depending on how the points are redeemed. It is not valuable enough to justify accepting thousands of dollars in additional mortgage costs.

If you value Bilt Points at 1.5 cents each, 50,000 points are worth approximately $750. At 2 cents each, the same bonus is worth approximately $1,000.

Those are travel-reward valuations, not guaranteed cash values. The thePointsPage guide to valuing points and miles explains why the value depends on the redemption you can actually make.

A small mortgage difference can erase the entire bonus: On a hypothetical $400,000, 30-year fixed mortgage, increasing the rate from 6.25% to 6.375% raises principal and interest by roughly $33 per month. That approaches $2,000 over five years, before considering differences in principal reduction. A larger rate gap, an origination fee or a weaker lender credit can cost much more than 50,000 points are worth.

Compare at Least Three Mortgage Offers

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau recommends requesting at least three pre-approvals. When they are completed within a short period, the credit-score impact should not be materially different from shopping with one lender.

Once a property is under contract and lenders provide official Loan Estimates, compare:

  • The interest rate and annual percentage rate, or APR.
  • The loan type and term.
  • Origination charges and lender fees.
  • Discount points paid to reduce the rate.
  • Lender credits.
  • Cash required to close.
  • Monthly mortgage insurance, when applicable.
  • The five-year cost of borrowing shown on the Loan Estimate.
  • Whether the lender can meet the purchase contract’s closing date.

Ask each lender to quote the same loan type, down payment, rate-lock period and points structure. A low advertised rate is not comparable if one lender charges discount points and another does not.

If the Bilt-matched expert is more expensive, show that person the competing Loan Estimate and ask for a match. The best outcome is earning the points without paying a premium for them.

Review the Buyer-Agent Agreement Too

The real estate agent side deserves the same scrutiny.

Bilt says buyer agents are typically compensated from the proceeds of the home sale, but the agent will discuss the available options and establish compensation through a formal agreement.

Before touring a home with the matched eXp agent, review:

  • The amount or rate of the agent’s compensation.
  • Whether the buyer could owe any portion not covered by the seller or listing broker.
  • Whether the agreement is exclusive.
  • How long the agreement lasts.
  • How it can be terminated.
  • Whether using the referred agent affects a rebate or other negotiable benefit available elsewhere.

National Association of REALTORS® policy requires written buyer agreements for MLS participants before touring and states that broker fees and commissions are negotiable.

Bilt’s general FAQ says there are no penalties for pausing or stopping work with the eXp agent. The signed buyer agreement still controls the actual relationship, so read that document rather than relying only on a general support page.

What to Do Before Starting the Offer

Bilt Mortgage Offer Checklist:

  1. Open your own offer. Determine whether it promises 25,000 points at pre-approval plus 25,000 at closing, or 50,000 only at closing.
  2. Save the complete terms. Keep screenshots, the confirmation email and all relevant dates.
  3. Ask about the credit inquiry. Confirm whether the pre-approval requires a hard pull before authorizing it.
  4. Get competing quotes. Request at least three pre-approvals or comparable Loan Estimates.
  5. Value the points realistically. Compare the likely redemption value with the rate and fee differences.
  6. Review the agent agreement. Understand compensation, exclusivity and termination before touring.
  7. Confirm stacking. Ask whether the mortgage bonus and eXp purchase-price points can both be earned.

If your account still shows the earlier split promotion, the first 25,000 points may be an excellent low-commitment opportunity. But “no home purchase required” does not mean “no consequences.” You may still provide sensitive financial information and authorize a credit review.

If your account shows the current closing-only version, think of the 50,000 points as a tiebreaker. Choose the Bilt-matched expert when the mortgage is competitive on its own, then enjoy the points as an additional benefit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I earn 25,000 Bilt Points just for getting pre-approved?

Not under Bilt’s current public Broker Closing Offer. The public page now says no points are awarded at pre-approval. A targeted offer sent directly to an individual member may still have different terms.

Did the earlier pre-approval bonus require buying a home?

The earlier described offer tied the first 25,000 points to receiving the pre-approval letter rather than completing a home purchase. Because that step can occur before a property is selected, the borrower did not need to close on or tour a home to reach that milestone. The exact targeted terms control.

Do I have to use Bilt’s matched mortgage expert?

Yes, to earn the current public 50,000-point closing bonus. Bilt says the loan must close through the same mortgage expert matched through its platform.

Do I have to use the Bilt-connected eXp agent?

Only for the separate home-purchase rewards. Bilt says the purchase must be facilitated by the eXp agent connected through Bilt to earn 1 point per $2 of the closing price.

Are the mortgage expert and real estate agent Bilt employees?

Do not assume so. Bilt describes the mortgage professional as an expert matched through Bilt. Its real estate program is powered by Bilt Homes LLC and works with licensed eXp Realty agents.

Are 50,000 Bilt Points worth choosing a more expensive mortgage?

Usually not. Even a modest interest-rate difference or lender fee can exceed the value of the points. Compare the Loan Estimates in dollars and treat the bonus as a secondary factor.

Getting to the Point(s)

The earlier version of Bilt’s mortgage promotion had an unusually easy first milestone: earn 25,000 points after receiving a pre-approval letter, without needing to complete a home purchase. Another 25,000 points were available if the mortgage closed.

That is not what Bilt’s current public page promises. The public offer now awards all 50,000 points only after a verified mortgage closing with the expert matched through Bilt.

If your Bilt app or email still shows the split 25,000/25,000 structure, save it and follow those targeted terms. If it does not, assume the closing-only rules apply.

Most importantly, do not pay a premium for the reward. Shop the mortgage, review the agent agreement and compare the complete financial cost. The points are a good bonus when the referred professionals are already competitive. They are a bad trade when a higher rate, extra fee or unfavorable agreement costs more than the reward is worth.

Put the Mortgage Cost Ahead of the Points

Points can make a competitive offer better, but they cannot rescue an expensive loan. Review how thePointsPage values rewards, follow the newest loyalty changes on The Runway and bring unusual terms to the community before committing.
