Chicago travelers are getting another nonstop way to reach Frankfurt—and this one comes with green stripes.
Condor plans to begin daily service between O’Hare and Frankfurt next summer, putting the German leisure airline on a route currently served by United and Lufthansa. More competition doesn’t guarantee a cheap ticket, but it gives travelers another schedule, another onboard product and another set of points options to compare.
The route also arrives at a useful moment for Condor. Its long-haul fleet now centers on the Airbus A330neo, and the airline will move into Frankfurt Airport’s new Terminal 3 for the 2027 summer schedule. That makes this more than a temporary aircraft swap on an existing flight—it’s a new gateway built around Condor’s current flagship.
Condor’s Chicago–Frankfurt Schedule
The new route begins May 14, 2027, and is scheduled to run daily through September 12, 2027. Condor says tickets are available through its website and travel agencies.
Independent launch coverage lists the planned schedule as follows:
- Frankfurt to Chicago: depart 2:50 p.m. and arrive 5:10 p.m.
- Chicago to Frankfurt: depart 8:20 p.m. and arrive 11:50 p.m. the following day.
Schedules this far in advance can change, so treat those times as a planning starting point rather than a promise. Confirm the operating date, flight time and aircraft shown on the final checkout screen before arranging a tight connection.
The seasonal end date matters too. A daily summer flight can look permanent in a search result, but a September outbound and late-September return may not work on Condor. Price both directions before building the rest of the trip around the new route.
Why the New Flight Matters
Chicago O’Hare already has nonstop service to Frankfurt on Lufthansa and United. Condor would become the third carrier in the market, adding a leisure-focused alternative during the busiest European travel months.
That extra capacity can help even if you never fly Condor. Three airlines competing for the same travelers may create more fare sales, more schedule choices and additional premium-cabin inventory. It can also give you another nonstop option when one airline’s price or award availability doesn’t work.
Frankfurt is useful beyond Germany. Condor says the flight will connect into its European network and partner flights from Frankfurt. A one-stop itinerary from Chicago could therefore reach destinations that don’t have nonstop service from O’Hare.
Still, compare the complete itinerary. A cheaper connection isn’t automatically better if it involves a long layover, separate tickets, a terminal change or less flexible fare rules.
What the Condor A330neo Offers
Condor will operate the Chicago route with an Airbus A330neo. The aircraft has economy, premium economy and business-class cabins, along with inflight entertainment and onboard Wi-Fi.
Business Class
Business class uses a 1-2-1 layout, so every passenger has direct aisle access. Condor says the seats convert into fully flat beds measuring up to 6 feet 6 inches. That’s a meaningful product detail for an overnight flight leaving Chicago at 8:20 p.m.
The exact seat can still vary within the cabin. Review the seat map, location, bassinet positions and any additional charge for a preferred seat before you pay. Atmos Rewards also instructs travelers to contact Condor for business-class seat selection on Condor flights.
Premium Economy and Economy
Premium economy provides more seat pitch and additional amenities than standard economy, but it isn’t a lie-flat product. Economy remains the lower-cost way onto the nonstop, with the final value depending heavily on the fare bundle.
Don’t compare only the first price you see. Check whether the fare includes a checked bag, advance seat selection, changes and the onboard extras you expect. A higher bundle can be cheaper than adding each item separately after booking.
Can You Book the Flight With Atmos Rewards Points?
Condor is an Atmos Rewards partner even though it isn’t a member of the oneworld alliance. Alaska’s current partner page says members can redeem Atmos Rewards points for eligible Condor flights online through Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines.
That doesn’t mean every Condor seat—or this new Chicago flight—will appear as an award. Partner programs only receive the inventory made available to them, and a new route may take time to load or may offer space in only certain cabins and dates.
Search the Chicago–Frankfurt route directly after signing into Atmos Rewards. If nothing appears, check nearby dates and search one passenger at a time to understand whether the issue is date, cabin or party size. Don’t buy points simply because a cash ticket is on sale.
If you pay cash, eligible Condor flights can also earn Atmos Rewards points. The earning rate depends on how the ticket was booked, the fare class and the current partner chart. Add the loyalty number before travel and save the boarding pass until the points post.
JetBlue TrueBlue Is Another Option to Check
JetBlue and Condor expanded their partnership in August 2025, allowing TrueBlue members to earn and redeem points on eligible Condor-operated flights. JetBlue says eligible awards can be searched through its website or mobile app.
Again, “eligible” is the important word. JetBlue hasn’t published a fixed award price for the new Chicago route, and no announcement guarantees that every Condor flight or cabin will be offered to TrueBlue members.
Search both Atmos Rewards and TrueBlue before moving flexible points. The mileage price, cash taxes and change rules can differ even when both programs display the same Condor flight.
Find the seat before moving points: A partnership is not the same as confirmed award availability. Search the exact ORD–FRA date, cabin and number of travelers first. Then compare the points price, taxes and cancellation terms. Transfers are generally one-way, and a partner award can disappear before the points arrive.

Compare the Full Cash and Points Cost
A new route can launch with attractive fares, but pricing moves with demand. Check Condor, United and Lufthansa for the same dates, then compare one-stop options if the nonstop premium is high.
For a points booking, include taxes, carrier charges, partner-booking fees and the value of the points you’re spending. For a cash ticket, include bags, seats and the mileage or status credit you expect to earn.
The cheapest option can also carry the most risk. A separate positioning ticket to Chicago may save money, but Condor isn’t required to protect that connection if the first airline arrives late. Leave a generous buffer or an overnight stay when the tickets aren’t issued together.
