Quick Take: TAP Miles&Go members can now earn 2 miles per €1 of eligible Airbnb accommodation spend. You must log in through TAP’s dedicated Airbnb page, follow its booking link, keep browser cookies enabled and complete the reservation within 10 days. Miles are calculated from the initial booking value after excluding taxes, fees, discounts and other ineligible charges. TAP’s summary says miles arrive within or up to 60 days after checkout, while the formal terms say no sooner than 60 days, so save the click-through, reservation and final receipt until the credit appears.
Airbnb doesn’t have a traditional points program. You book a stay, complete it and generally leave with memories, photos and a cleaning-fee opinion.
A new TAP Air Portugal partnership adds an airline-mile option to that equation. TAP Miles&Go members can earn 2 miles for every €1 of eligible Airbnb accommodation spend—as long as they start the booking in the right place.
That last condition is the entire story. Opening the Airbnb app and making a normal reservation won’t retroactively produce TAP miles. You need to begin through TAP, allow the tracking process to work and finish the booking within its 10-day window.
The reward is useful when it fits a stay you already wanted. It isn’t a reason to choose a worse property, accept a stricter cancellation policy or pay more for the privilege of earning a modest pile of airline miles.
How the TAP and Airbnb Partnership Works
TAP’s official partner page lays out a straightforward three-step process:
- Log in to your TAP Miles&Go account on TAP’s dedicated Airbnb page.
- Select “Book now” and follow the tracked link to Airbnb.
- Complete the eligible accommodation booking through Airbnb within 10 days.
TAP says the Miles&Go number is linked during the redirect, so you shouldn’t need to type it again on Airbnb. The TAP number must belong to the person making the reservation.
You still search properties, review the price and complete the reservation through Airbnb. The TAP page is the tracking doorway, not a separate vacation-rental booking engine.
How Many Miles Will You Earn?
The earning rate is 2 TAP Miles&Go miles for every €1 of eligible spend. If Airbnb charges you in dollars, pounds or another currency, TAP says the qualifying amount will be converted into euros for the mileage calculation.
The miles are based on the initial booking value after excluding taxes, fees, discounts and other ineligible charges. That means you shouldn’t multiply the final credit-card total by two and assume that number will appear in your account.
A Simple Earning Example:
- Eligible accommodation value: €800.
- Earning rate: 2 miles per €1.
- Expected mileage: 1,600 TAP Miles&Go miles.
- Not included: taxes, fees, discounts and other excluded charges.
The example is intentionally boring. You don’t need a calculator with confetti. Find the eligible euro amount, multiply it by two and keep in mind that TAP controls the final conversion and qualifying total.
You Must Start Through TAP
This partnership works like a shopping portal. TAP needs to record the referral before Airbnb receives the booking.
Start at TAP’s Airbnb page, sign in and use the provided link. Cookies must be enabled, and the reservation needs to be completed within 10 days of clicking through. If the window expires, return to TAP and begin again before booking.
Don’t assume TAP can fix an untracked reservation: Booking directly in the Airbnb app, blocking the tracking cookie, waiting more than 10 days or switching devices mid-process could leave TAP without the referral record its terms require. Start fresh through TAP when you’re ready to reserve, and save screenshots of the logged-in partner page, redirect and confirmation.
TAP doesn’t publish a troubleshooting checklist for privacy extensions, mobile-app handoffs or cross-device booking. That uncertainty is another reason to keep the process simple. Use one browser, remain logged in, avoid clearing cookies and finish the reservation during the same session when possible.
TAP’s Posting Timeline Is Contradictory
This is the one part of the partnership that needs clearer language from TAP.
The main page says miles will be credited “up to 60 days after check-out” and later says “within 60 days.” The formal terms on the same page say miles will be credited “no sooner than 60 days” after the stay.
Those statements don’t mean the same thing. One suggests 60 days is the outside limit; the other suggests it’s the earliest possible posting date.
Until TAP corrects or explains the wording, don’t build an urgent redemption around these miles. Save the reservation number, original price, checkout date, final receipt and evidence that you entered Airbnb through TAP. If the miles haven’t appeared after 60 days, contact TAP Miles&Go and provide the documentation.
The thePointsPage Tools of the Trade guide includes options for tracking loyalty balances and missing credits without trying to remember every portal click yourself.
Cancellations and Changes Affect the Miles
A cancelled Airbnb reservation won’t earn TAP miles. If you modify the booking, the number of miles may change.
That makes sense: the reward is tied to the eligible value of a completed stay, not the first number shown when you click “Reserve.” A shorter trip, discounted adjustment or partial refund can reduce the final credit.
Don’t keep a bad reservation solely because you want the miles. If the property, dates or cancellation terms no longer work, protect the larger travel purchase first. Losing 1,600 miles is better than keeping an €800 stay you no longer need.
Airbnb’s normal terms continue to govern the accommodation booking. TAP’s terms say TAP Air Portugal is responsible for crediting the miles. In other words, take property and payment issues to Airbnb, and mileage-posting issues to TAP.
These Are Bonus Miles, Not Status Miles
TAP classifies miles earned through the Airbnb partnership as Bonus Miles. The offer isn’t presented as a way to earn TAP elite status or Status Miles.
That distinction matters if you’re tracking a qualification target. These miles can add to a redeemable Miles&Go balance, but you shouldn’t count the stay toward an elite-status requirement unless TAP separately confirms otherwise.
If you’re building a TAP balance for an award, check the current thePointsPage Transfer Bonus Master List before moving flexible points. Portal miles and point transfers solve different problems, and transfers are generally one-way. Confirm the award first.
Can You Stack the TAP Miles With Other Rewards?
The TAP miles come from the tracked partner link. The payment still goes through Airbnb, so the card used for the reservation may earn its normal purchase rewards according to that card’s terms and the way the transaction is coded.
What you generally can’t do is begin the same reservation through several airline or cash-back portals and expect every referral to track. Choose the portal reward you want before booking.
That choice shouldn’t be automatic. Other airline programs also have Airbnb earning arrangements, and portal rates can differ. Compare the currencies you’ll realistically use—not just the largest-looking number.
If TAP miles are difficult for you to redeem, earning 2 per €1 may be less valuable than a smaller amount in a program you use regularly. The Tools of the Trade can help compare portal options and keep the resulting balances organized.
A Better Airbnb Booking Routine
The safest approach is to choose the stay first and the mileage portal second:
- Search Airbnb and identify the property you actually want.
- Review the complete price, location, reviews and cancellation policy.
- Take a screenshot of the property and total before leaving the page.
- Open TAP’s Airbnb partner page and log in to Miles&Go.
- Follow the TAP link back to Airbnb with cookies enabled.
- Confirm the property and total still match, then book within 10 days.
- Save the TAP click-through, Airbnb confirmation and final receipt.
- Set a reminder for 60 days after checkout and verify the credit.
The thePointsPage Travel Planning Checklist can keep the stay, cancellation deadline, checkout date and mileage follow-up together. That’s more reliable than hoping you’ll remember a portal click two months after the trip.
Is the Partnership Worth Using?
If you already collect TAP Miles&Go miles and were going to book the Airbnb anyway, yes. The process adds a few clicks and can produce extra miles without changing the accommodation.
The value gets weaker when you choose TAP miles by default, ignore a better portal reward or let the earning rate influence the property decision. An Airbnb with better reviews, a lower total or a more flexible cancellation policy can easily be worth more than the mileage difference.
Also remember when the reward arrives: after the completed stay, and possibly well after it under TAP’s conflicting terms. These aren’t miles you should expect to use for the flights connected to the same trip.
Getting to the Point(s)
TAP’s Airbnb partnership creates a useful new earning option where a traditional hotel loyalty program isn’t available. Miles&Go members receive 2 miles per €1 of eligible accommodation spend after taxes, fees, discounts and other excluded charges are removed.
The booking path is mandatory. Log in through TAP, follow the dedicated Airbnb link, keep cookies enabled and complete the reservation within 10 days. The TAP number must belong to the person making the booking.
The offer is worth using when TAP miles fit your strategy and the Airbnb already makes sense. It isn’t worth overpaying, accepting bad terms or keeping an unwanted stay.
Most importantly, document the booking. TAP currently contradicts itself about whether miles arrive within 60 days or no sooner than 60 days after checkout. A few screenshots now can be the difference between an easy missing-mile request and trying to reconstruct a browser session months later.
